Recently at WOCN on Nashville, TN. Shane England BSN, RN, CWCN, WCC, OMS, FACCWS presented a well-received poster on her clinical experiences using Trio Responsive Silicone Technology to solve difficult ostomy problems.
Case1: involves problem solving of the patients ability to use and apply ostomy products immediately post-surgery. This is often a significant challenge, especially as many patients are older. The difference and ease of use of Trio products can address product application education quickly. Trio products are designed to be easier to use than regular hydrocolloid products.
Case 2: Involves a difficult location of an ileostomy which is causing leakage, skin breakdown and so adhesion problems. Applying skin protection barriers made from Trio responsive silicone gave a more robust, non-melting skin barrier that offered a much higher level of skin protection resulted in increased wear time.
Case 3: Involved the need for additional skin protection used in conjunction with a fistula /wound pouch to protect peri-wound skin and aid wound healing. Fistula can often be challenging due to the corrosive nature of fistula output. Trio responsive silicone provides robust protection and does not melt or dissolve, providing true protection around a fistula.
More and more clinical WOC nurses are turning to Trio silicone products to add new problems solving tools to their product toolbox. Trio products are completely different from any other product on the market both in terms of material but also in functionality and experience.
